The “Anholter Bärenwald” is within the Biotopwildpark Anholter Schweiz and was built in 1999.
Four brown bears and six asian black bears live in an area of 2.5 hectares.
All bears are from poor housing conditions and were saved by the IBF, in collaboration with the German Animal Protection Association.
S.D. Carl-Philipp Fürst zu Salm-Salm agreed to provide the 2.5 hectares wooded area within the wild park for the bears.
